Finding Sources supporting your Essay Topic:

Source One: http://www.artrepublic.com/articles/475-selfies-and-the-history-of-self-portraiture.html/

Identify your topic and briefly explain why this material (each visual, written or aural text) is relevant to your question, and is worth viewing or listening too.

This material would be helpful towards researching for my question because it states artists that were well known for their self-portraits and also states what time period they were painting in as well as visual examples. This article helps to provide evidence that I can use within my essay. I believe that if people art interested in portraiture and art history, this article would be good.

Is it credible, verifiable? How do you know?

This article contains click on links that can take me to sources where I can find further information about the artists or paintings. At the bottom of the article is a area where referencing has been made to all information and images used in the article, as well as the date of publication. I believe that this could be a secondary source I would use in my essay.

Source Two: http://study.com/academy/lesson/what-is-a-self-portrait-definition-artists-examples.html#transcriptHeader

Identify your topic and briefly explain why this material (each visual, written or aural text) is relevant to your question, and is worth viewing or listening too.

When looking at this source, there is a video and along with a transcript. When reading the transcript, it describes the differences between different types of portraiture. The difference between photographic self-portraits and painting portraits. This has examples as well. This is relevant to my question because I can use the comparison between painting and photography portraits as an argument point. Once again this could be good for people interested in art history and the timeline of self-portraiture.

Is it credible, verifiable? How do you know?

This is believed to be an education site, there is no publication date and also no author. There is a instructor stated, who is a doctoral student studying media studies and cultural history. I believe that if I knew the date of publication and other sources that might have been used within the transcript, I would think the source is more credible.
